ContainerPort Group Climbs on Top 100 For-Hire Carriers List

CLEVELAND, Ohio – ContainerPort Group (CPG®), a World Group company and premier national drayage provider with coast-to-coast coverage, is excited to announce its climb to #72 overall and #7 in the intermodal/drayage category on the Transport Topics Top 100 For-Hire Carriers list for 2024. This marks the sixth consecutive year CPG has been included on the list, reflecting a six-position jump from 2023 and further affirming its status as a leader in the industry.

Joey Palmer, President of CPG, commented, “This year’s upward movement is a direct result of our ongoing focus on strategic growth, operational efficiency, and improvements to customer experience. By expanding our services on the West Coast and through our Dedicated division, investing in our terminals and people, and driving growth in strategic markets, we continue to position ourselves as a trusted partner to both customers and independent contractors.”

Key Drivers Behind CPG’s Successes in 2024

Expansion of Regional Commercial Teams & Operations: CPG’s growth has been significantly driven by strategic leadership moves within the commercial team. Jon Urban, promoted to Executive VP, Sales, has spearheaded the development of a rapidly expanding and maturing team composed of both long-standing CPG members and top-tier new talent like Rolina Camelo and Tammy Auld Heard. This expansion is critical to growing our customer base in our traditional service areas, while further entrenching the company’s footprint in key growth markets like California and Texas.

Operational Leadership Changes: The promotion TJ Frye to Senior VP, Operations, has been instrumental in driving CPG's commitment to operational improvements. With a strong background in process innovation, TJ has focused on optimizing network operations and enhancing the end-to-end customer experience. His leadership has also been central to upgrading CPG facilities, like our new terminal in Joliet, IL, which improves service offerings and expands our capacity to handle the growing needs of customers across the Midwest.

Commitment to Training & Development: Investments in training and development remain a cornerstone of CPG’s success. By providing role-specific training, our customer-facing and operational teams are equipped to excel, fostering stronger relationships and continuous improvements. Programs like our Customer-Centric Communication Program help employees build essential skills such as active listening and conflict resolution, enhancing customer satisfaction at every touchpoint. This commitment to efficiency and responsiveness continues to position CPG as a leader in delivering reliable, customer-focused solutions.

Driver Support & Retention: At CPG, our drivers are at the core of our success, and we are dedicated to both recognizing their contributions and providing them with the tools they need to thrive. Through programs like CPG Legends, Safety All-Stars, and Drivers of the Quarter, we emphasize our commitment to driver engagement and long-term support, fostering a sense of community, rewarding safe driver practices, and giving year-round appreciation. In addition, our driver app, DrayPal 2.0, continues to evolve to better support our owner-operators, offering features that streamline admin tasks, track earnings in real-time, and enhance interaction within the CPG network.
