According to the USDA, more than 34 million people, including 9 million children, in the United States are food insecure. To help combat this sobering statistic in our own communities, ContainerPort Group hosted a company-wide canned food drive competition throughout November. We were happy to help fill empty pantries and ease the burden of families struggling to provide this holiday season. CPG's parent company, World Group, doubled the impact by matching each can with a $1 donation to a local charity as well. Altogether, we collected 2,365 cans as a company.
Our St. Louis terminal alone collected 1,090 cans and surpassed filling one entire pick-up truck bed! The terminal really banded together to knock
The three agreed that the St. Louis community would benefit from their efforts and chose Moms on a Mission as their main charity. It's estimated that their donations will help around 150 families in the St. Louis area!
Terminal Manager Steve Heiple shared that "the St. Louis terminal is always here to help, we always try to go above and beyond to help others, and this is just an example of that drive and attitude, especially when the end goal/reward is helping those in need for the holidays."
The team delivered the donations this past Friday and Moms on a Mission were happy for the delivery. It came just in time to restock for Christmas and enable them to pass out boxes to families for the holidays.
Well done, team!
