ContainerPort Group Named to 2019 Best Employers in Ohio List

Employee Satisfaction and Workplace Culture Drives Recognition

CLEVELAND – ContainerPort Group, the nation’s fastest growing drayage fleet and a leader in multi-modal transportation services, has been named to the 2019 Best Employers in Ohio list based largely on positive feedback from employees and an evaluation of key workplace policies and practices.

This announcement comes only one year after successfully merging ContainerPort Group, Inc. (CPG) and ASF Transportation Group, LLC (ASF) in January of 2018 to form an intermodal drayage powerhouse in key markets east of the Rockies with dedicated divisions for intermodal, bulk, truckload and logistics.

“We spent all of 2018 on a journey to successfully integrate two companies into one – aligning to a single corporate vision and focusing on creating an environment where our shared core values guide who we are, who we bring into our company, and how we deliver our services to valued customers,” said Michael Smith, president of ContainerPort Group. “Being included on this list is a testimony to all of the hard work that our team and fleet of owner/operators put in each and every day to ensure ContainerPort Group prioritizes respecting one another and creating positive experiences in the transportation industry.”

The 2019 list of Best Employers in Ohio is an annual list created by the Ohio SHRM State Council, Crain’s Cleveland Business, and Best Companies Group. The statewide survey and awards program is designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Ohio, benefiting the state's economy, its workforce and businesses. The 2019 Best Employers in Ohio list is made up of 41 companies, with rankings scheduled for a May release date.

Best Employers in Ohio Methodology:

To be considered for participation, companies had to fulfill the following eligibility requirements:

  • Be a for-profit, not-for-profit business or government entity
  • Be a publicly or privately held business
  • Have a facility in the state of Ohio
  • Have at least 15 employees working in Ohio
  • Must be in business a minimum of 1 year

Companies from across the state entered the two-part survey process to determine the Best Employers in Ohio. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. This part of the process was worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final rankings. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process in Ohio and also analyzed the data and used their expertise to determine the final rankings.
